The Czech Republic doesn’t have a formal residency by investment program. Instead, like many countries, it offers temporary residence to those that want to exercise a self-employed profession and a business activity. The Czech temporary residence for business is a very popular route as it is both inexpensive and it doesn’t impose strict restrictions. You first enter the country on a 6- month business visa to register your company. Thereafter, you will receive an annual residence permit that you need to renew every year. After 5 years of residence, you can apply to the Czech authority for permanent residence. Naturalization is possible after 10 years of residence in the Czech Republic.

The investment visa to the Czech Republic is not the most popular, but a very reliable and effective way of immigration to the Czech Republic. The low popularity of this method of obtaining visas is primarily due to the required high volume of investments. Even in comparison with other economically developed countries, including the EU countries. The effectiveness of this method is determined by almost zero rejection for honest investors.

Several conditions that the Investor must fulfill to obtain a visa to the Czech Republic consist of several points:

• A renewable two-year visa is available at a high cost. It is available to investors from non-EU countries. A businessman must invest at least CZK 75 million. Naturally, the entire amount may not be invested in cash, and up to 60% of this amount can be provided through assets, both tangible and intangible, for example, cars, real estate, etc.
• It is the duty of a businessman to create and provide at least 20 full-time jobs, at least during the duration of the Investment Visa Program (compared to the German Business Visa Program- the mandatory requirement includes an investment of 1 million EURO and creating 10 jobs.
• The investor must develop a business plan for the investment.

 

There are some other basic conditions, that the investor needs to fulfill such as proving indebtedness clearance; having a clean criminal record; providing its financial statements for the last 2 fiscal years, and other requirements; mostly formal; for it to obtain an Investment visa in the Czech Republic.

An investment visa to the Czech Republic allows you to use a single investment to obtain several visas if the number of shareholders and directors is more than 5 people and owns less than 30% of the share in the company’s authorized capital. In this case, you will have to prove that their presence in the Czech Republic significantly impacts the company’s business.

Investment visas have many advantages over obtaining a regular long-term visa to do business:

• the process of applying for a visa in the Czech Republic is at least 30 to 45 days, this is two times less than in the case of applying for a long-term business visa, which is 120 days.
• besides, unlike long-stay visa recipients for doing business, applying for an Investment Visa does not require a personal presence in the Czech Republic before applying.
• another important advantage is that the family members of a businessman can quickly obtain long-term residence permits for family reunification.
• long-term stay applications for family members on an Investment Visa are processed much faster and are issued within 90 days, compared to other types of family reunification visas, which can take up to 270 days.
• the very low bounce rate for honest investors.

Required Documents for Permanent Residence applications 

Citizen of EU:

• Application form for a permanent residence permit for an EU citizen.
• Valid travel document
• Two passports photographs
• Document proving fulfillment of either one of the following conditions:
• five-year uninterrupted stay in the Czech Republic (employment contract) or;
• two-year uninterrupted stay in the Czech Republic
• proof of accommodation (rental agreement)

 

Citizen of Third-country

• Application form for a permanent residence permit for a third-country citizen
• Valid travel documents
• Two passport photographs
• Proof of accommodation(rental agreement)
• Document proving that you dispose of funds to cover your expenses
• Certificate that you passed the relevant Czech language exam
• Extract from the criminal register in your home country (only upon request)
