About Namibia Citizenship and Residency

Namibia only offers a residency program, foreign applicants may invest in a business in Namibia which also allows the applicant and their family to live in Namibia. The Namibian Residency and Investor Visa can be yours by investing at least 2 million NAD (Namibian Dollars). Foreign investors qualify for an Investment Visa, which provides a path to Permanent Residence after seven years. Citizenship in Namibia can be obtained through naturalization after five years of legal residence and requires a copy of the permanent resident permit, police clearance certificate of country of origin, and Namibia medical report letter from the receiver of revenue confirming the period of residence. Citizenship through naturalization certificate will now cost N$1,200 to acquire, and N$500. Citizenship certificate registration remains free, but a duplicate will set you back N$500. The voluntary act of relinquishing citizenship or one’s nationality will now cost N$1,000, which is up from N$100.

Obtaining permanent residency in Namibia is a daunting and complex process. Researching the rules, regulations and qualifying criteria is practically impossible. • A duly completed application form signed by the applicant
• Medical certificate form/ Radiological Report Form completed by a medical practitioner
• Certified copies of the highest education or trade certificate of the applicant
• Certified copies of previous work references, included in a detailed CV
• Copies of travel documents or Passport
• Registration Certificate  indicating the registration with a relevant professional board/association
• Police Clearance Certificate from the country of origin and last country of residence
• Two passport-type photographs
• Certified copies of marriage or divorce certificate
• A motivation letter by the prospective employer indicating the reason for appointing the applicant and not a Namibian citizen and Deed of Surety
• A copy of employment/contract between applicant and employer
• Comments from the relevant Trade Union
• If the applicant has been registered for Namibian taxation, proof of such registration should be included and if the applicant has applied for a Status Investment Certificate in terms of the Namibian Foreign Investment Act
